First Patrol

Hey Fayzr fans!

I have some very exciting news for y'all

Midnight Squad is going on our first patrol!

I mean, I know I said "stay tuned for stories from the front-line" but I was sorta assuming we'd get to the frontline first.

But nope, turns out they're throwing us right into the action!

We've got our first assignment, so check it.

[As Corey raises his hand, this time he is holding a small computer tablet showing a map of some kind of city]

So that there is the city of Grenoa, you can see the big SDF base over here on the West side.

And that's where we'll be starting from, but the patrol itself takes us all the way to the northern side of the city.

And just to be clear, this is the front line.

[Corey points just to the east of Grenoa. There are three cities highlighted in red]

The Swarm are right there, on the eastern edge of the city.

So we'll be patrolling the front line, looking for any signs of Swarm activity, and if we find any we'll be engaging, and destroying it.

And the best part is we'll be doing it at night, under the cover of darkness!

So that's the plan, now let's meet with our commander for a little pre-patrol pep talk!

Listen up recruits, I've been fighting this war, since before you were all born.

And I won't lie to you - We. Are. Losing.

But, it is our duty to protect Grenoa long enough for the civvies to get to safety

So, let me be clear - we need you to keep delta quadrant clear - any signs of Swarm activity must be dealt with!

Hundreds of thousands of people are relying on you. Families, children, revered elders. This is not a drill.

We will hold this city for as long as it takes to evacuate.

And you will hold Delta quadrant

Is that clear?

Well, that's all very serious.

But I mean, if he's been fighting this long, he must have seen some crazy shit.

So I'm sure he's just being prudent and all that.

[Corey, raising a cryo-pistol, and then lowering it]

So, uh, let's load up and head out!

The weather outside was bad - a heavy snowstorm was in full-swing. It was cold, wet, and miserable.

But we had a job to do, so we gritted our teeth, and marched on.

And then, about 10 minutes into our patrol... we found our first sign of Swarm activity.

[Nurin raises a small computer tablet showing a small blip on the map]

Incoming!

[Shaky shot of two dredgers bursting from the snowy ground]

SKREEEEE!

Lix, take the right one! Nurin and I will take the left.

Dr. Eric, get into position!

[Lix forms a sword from his nanites, and charges at the dredger]

...

[A quick cut to Corey firing his cryo-pistol at the other dredge, followed by Nurin firing their plasma rifle from the side]

...

[Both dredgers explode into a mass of red mist]

Haha! Hell yeah!

Did you see that?!

Midnight Squad is on the god damn case!
